In August 2022 the Board of Directors of the Lancaster County Firemen’s Association (LCFA) appointed a committee to explore possibilities of purchasing a fire engine for the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center (LCPSTC). The committee members are Mark Fritz, Chairman; Tom Hoffman; Todd Kirkpatrick; and John Sweigart. The LCFA previously purchased a new engine for LCPSTC in 2005.
Over the last 20 years the demand for training at LCPSTC has greatly increased. Fire, rescue, and industrial training classes are in session daily. Some courses occur concurrently, requiring multiple engines operating at the same time in different scenarios. After determining the features and general specifications for the new engine, the Committee met with the three apparatus dealers located within Lancaster County to explore options and availability.
On October 26, 2022 the Committee recommended to the LCFA Board of Directors to approve the purchase from Glick Fire Equipment Company of a 2023 Pierce Enforcer Engine demo unit already on order. The unit has an Enforcer chassis with a 10″ raised roof; Cummins L9 450hp engine; a 1500 GPM Waterous pump; 1,000 gallon FDNY Style water tank; 6″ front intake; 5″ rear intake; front bumper 2″ discharge; four 2.5″ rear discharges; two 1.5″ lowered crosslays with side discharges; 3″ deluge with TFT 18″ riser; Akron 3426 Monitor with stack tips; low hosebed; HiViz 12-volt scene lighting; and many other features.
