Scholarship Awards:

The Lancaster County Firefighters Education Foundation (LCFEF) scholarship is a four (4) year renewable scholarship of $1,000.00 per year (one year is two semesters). Scholarships are awarded annually at the recipient’s appropriate High School awards ceremony.

Eligibility for Scholarship:

Applicants for this scholarship must be affiliated with a Lancaster County Emergency Services Organization (ESO) that is a member of the Lancaster County Firemen’s Association (LCFA). LCFA affiliation is either by the applicant or an immediate family member being a member of the ESO.  Two scholarships will be awarded.

Scholarship Application Process:

Scholarship application shall be completed and submitted by US Mail or email to treasurer@lcfa.com no later than April 17, 2026.

  • Applicant must have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) prior to applying for scholarship.
  • Applicant must supply a copy of the school transcript from the sending school and grade report. The transcript should list all grade points earned and academic course work completed to date.
  • The applicant must submit a short essay (about 200 words) explaining why they should be selected for the scholarship and how the course work will benefit their career and their community.
  • The applicant must submit a copy of an acceptance letter from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from any of the following (No Relatives):

            A.  High School Representative (Teacher, Guidance Counselor, Principal or other person affiliated with school)

            B.  Community representative (Fire Chief, EMS Chief, Police Chief, Municipal Official, Pastor, Employer, or other person.)

Educational Institution Classification:

Eligible institutions of higher learning shall include any post-secondary institutions requiring a high school diploma for entry to include:

            A.  Any public or private four (4) year accredited college or university, or

            B.  Any public or private two-year accredited college, or

            C.  Any public or private accredited Vocational-Technical College or Training Institution

Scholarship Award Disbursement:

The permitted use of award money is:

  1. Fees or charges required for tuition.
  2. Fees or charges for room and board while attending school.
  3. Expenses for textbooks, course work, lab fees and other materials as required by a course instructor for required course assignments or projects.
  4. Recipient shall at the end of the school year submit their grade report to the LCFA office at the address above to receive payment and renew their scholarship for up to four years.
  5. Recipient must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  6. Scholarship awards are not transferable to another individual.

Recipient may transfer to another eligible institution.

Successful applicant will receive notification of award through their School District.

The applicant, if awarded, will be requested to attend the LCFA annual meeting on the first Saturday of June for recognition.  Applicant will be notified of the time and location of the ceremony.
